The Southern Illinoisan, Thursday, January 5, 2017 WEST FRANKFORT - Samuel H. Pollack, 71, passed away at 9:31 p.m. Monday, Jan. 2, 2017, in Herrin Hospital. He was born Feb. 9, 1945, in West Frankfort, to Charley and Jenny Kathryn (Atess) Pollack. He married Cathy Hancock. Survivors include his wife, Cathy Pollack of West Frankfort; son, Jason (Jessica) Pollack of New Baden; stepdaughter, Tiffany (Norman) Blades of Zeigler; stepson, Nathan (Ann) Taylor of Corinth; granddaughter, Reese Pollack ; nine stepgrandchildren; four great-stepgrandchildren; a brother, Tom (Diann) Pollack of West Frankfort; niece, Rachael Pollack of Orient; great-niece, Sydney Rich of Orient; nephew, Nate Smith of West Frankfort; and several cousins and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents. He was a member of the United Hebrew Temple in Benton, the NRA, West Frankfort Elks Lodge, where he was a trustee, and the Masonic Lodge 1047 of Royalton; he was also a Shriner. He was an independent oil producer since 1969 and president of the Pollack Oil Producer Company, and he was a former Denning Township Precinct Committeeman and Secretary of the Franklin County Republican Party. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 6, in the Tower Grove Cemetery in Murphysboro, with Dr. Samuel Goldman officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Parker-Reedy Funeral Home in West Frankfort, with Masonic rites at 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
