Funeral services for Mr. Dan Morris will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2016, at 10:00a.m. at Eighth Avenue Baptist Church in Teague. Rev. Ralph Hale will officiate. Interment will follow the services at Dew Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Friday with the family present from 6:00p.m. until 8:00p.m. at Bowers Funeral Home in Teague.

Mr. Morris passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2016, at his residence in Teague.

He was born in Teague on May 25, 1938, and graduated from Teague High School with the class of 1956. Mr. Morris served in the U.S. Navy from 1956 to 1962, before graduating from Texas A&M in 1971 with a B. S. Degree in Biochemistry. He worked for Scott & White Hospital in Temple for many years, as well as the V. A. Hospital in Waco, and the Texas Agriculture Agency Blackland Research Center through Texas A&M in Temple before moving to Buffalo where he owned & operated the Weathervane Restaurant for four years. He returned to Teague and worked for the H. L. & P. plant until his retirement. Mr. Morris collected pistols, enjoyed making and refinishing furniture, making and designing T-shirts and coffee mugs and giving many of his creations to family and friends. He was active in church for many years and was a member of the Dew Methodist Church.

He is survived by one daughter, Dana Morris of Buffalo; two sisters, Linda Thornton and Suzanne Thornton; two brothers, Jerry Morris and Mike Morris & wife Sherry all of Teague; one aunt, Pam Ingram of Kosse; one uncle, John Henry Stricklin of Seguin; nieces & nephews, Mary Kay Sartor, Scott Thornton, Phil Morris, Kelley Taptich, Donna Bramm, Leslie DeCoux, Will Morris, Jason Morris, Casey Morris, Melissa Puskac, Susan Shelton, and Trey Cadenhead; other relatives and friends.

Mr. Morris was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert & Loretta Morris; one brother, Phillip Morris; one nephew, Bryan (B.T.) Thornton; and one brother-in-law, Merle Thornton.

The family requests memorials be made to the Dew Methodist Church or to the Soup Kitchen at First Baptist Church in Teague.
