Darwin Hays Allen, Sr., 89, of Pampa, died December 13, 2016 at his home in Pampa.

Services will be 2:00 PM Friday, December 16, 2016, at Memory Gardens Mausoleum, with Rev. Joe Jernigan, pastor of Calvary Christian Fellowship of Shamrock, officiating.

Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery with military honors courtesy of U. S. Navy. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.

Mr. Allen was born October 1, 1927 in Butler, Oklahoma. He married Francis Wood on November 19, 1947 in Wheeler. She preceded him in death on May 21, 2006. Darwin had been a resident of the Pampa area since 1948 and a resident of Pampa since 1990. He was a pumper for Skelly Oil, Getty Oil & Gas and Texaco, starting in 1948 and retiring in 1990. He was a Church of Christ. He organized and coached boys in the Optimist Club in Skellytown. Darwin was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, serving during World War II on the USS Shangrila, USS Miami and USS Tarawa.

Darwin was also preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Ruby Allen; a son, Darwin Hays “Rick” Allen, Jr.; brother, Richard Allen; and sister, Mildred Burger.

Survivors include two daughters, Linda Westbrook and husband Eddie of Winters, and Jeanne Moore and husband Hubert of Shamrock; eight grandchildren, Max Townsend, Karla Townsend, Rick Smith, Dee Dee Reeves, Zach Allen, Joshua Allen, Dillon Allen and Evan Allen; twelve great grandchildren, Amy Dawn Bentley, Michaella Smith, John Aceves, Joseph Aceves, Matthew Aceves, Ryann Townsend, Brennan Townsend, Marcus Allen, Ezekiel Allen, Rhyder Allen, Blakely Allen and Cooper Allen; and two great-great grandchildren, M'Kayleigh Penny and Madalyn Seftone.
