Obituary from The Times-News (Twin Falls, ID) - Wednesday, November 12, 2014:

Gudrun B. Johnson passed from this mortal life into the arms of her one true love, her husband, Dick, on the evening of Monday, Nov. 10, 2014, in Draper, Utah.

Gudrun was born March 9, 1934, in Jerome, Idaho, to Hyrum Lynn and Maibelle Ruth Jensen. She grew up in the Hagerman/Tuttle area, where she was the oldest of four daughters. They had many an adventure on the farm and canyon rim. She learned to work hard and be productive and how to make do or do without. She graduated from Hagerman High School in 1952. Following graduation, she moved to Twin Falls to attend business school. She worked for several years at Krengel's Hardware Store in Twin Falls, Idaho, as its main bookkeeper. It was while working at Krengel's that she met the love of her life, Richard Johnson. They were married on April 29, 1961, in Jerome, Idaho. Out of this union came four children. They made homes in Twin Falls and Jerome. In 1971, they traveled as a family to the Idaho Falls Temple to be sealed for eternity.

Gudrun was a talented seamstress, master crocheter and gardener. She canned and preserved many things and could stretch a dollar better than anyone we know. She loved getting ready for Christmas and spent the entire year shopping to make sure there were lots of presents under the tree. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings. She always found her greatest joy in serving others. She was quick to observe and then serve.

Gudrun is survived by three children: Martha (David), Todd (Crystal) and Melinda (Doug); eight grandchildren: Jordan (Corina), Devan, Landan, Austan, Kayla (Sean), Katie, Boden and Taesh; one great-granddaughter, Reagan. She is also survived by two sisters: Janet (Roy) and Emma Lou; many nieces and nephews; and her trusted canine companion, Okie. She was preceded in death by her sweetheart, Richard; one son; her parents; and a sister.

The family wishes to thank those that helped care for Gudrun in failing health, particularly America, Teresa and Sonja at the Wentworth, and Marissa and Isabell of Kindred at Home Hospice.

A visitation will be held Friday evening, Nov. 14, at the Jerome LDS 2nd Ward Chapel, 50 E. 100 S. of Jerome, where family and friends may call from 6-8 p.m. A celebration of Gudrun's life will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, also at the Jerome LDS 2nd Ward Chapel, with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Jerome Cemetery. Arrangements under the care of Farnsworth Mortuary of Jerome.
