Alfred E. LaVine, 95, of Nappanee, passed away at 12:56 am, Wednesday, November 16, 2016 in his home. Al was born on October 16, 1921, the son of the late Chester and Pearl (Weikel) LaVine. On February 14, 1943, he married Thelma Bliley. He is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Thelma; three children; Diane (Robert) Coryn, Marc (Pamela) LaVine, and Eric (Vivian) LaVine; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren. He is also survived by sister, Treva Bope and brother, Lyle (Josephine) LaVine. He is preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter, Trisha Lavine and siblings, Richard, Morris, Burnett, and Edna. Al was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Woodland. He was an avid outdoorsman and overall handyman. He enjoyed watching golf on T.V. Al worked for Studebaker for over 21 years and also worked at Hop-Cap and Ristance. Visitation will be held from 10:00-12:00 pm, Saturday, November 19, 2016 in Mishler Funeral Home, 2030 St. Rd. 331, Bremen. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 pm. Burial will take place in Bremen Cemetery. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Center for Hospice Care, 501 Comfort Lane, Mishawaka, IN 46545.
