Bob was raised in Barber and attended school before entering the workforce. He worked at gas stations in Hominy and met the love of his life, Glenda, at a local café in 1953. They were married on August 15, 1953 and had three children together. They moved to Cushing in 1954.
While in Cushing, Bob worked in the oilfield. He worked as a roughneck, roustabout, and truck driver, and owned a service station. He also was a foreman for many crews in the oilfield. Bob worked hard for his family to make sure they had anything and everything they ever needed.
Bob had a true love and that was music. He played the guitar and sang in local bands. He played at the Senior Citizens Center in Cushing, Chandler, and many places around the area. His true enjoyment was when he played in the Oklahoma Opry.
Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Bob is survived by two sons and their wives; one brother; three sisters; and four grandchildren.
Bob is preceded in death by his wife, Glenda, a son 78494477 Melvin Joe, parents, and one brother, Freeman.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 3 from 2:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Family will greet friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday evening.
Services have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 4, 2016 at A.J. Powell Cemetery in Hominy, Oklahoma.
