Clara was a highly active member of the Yuba-Sutter Community for 79 years. She was a substitute teacher for Marysville Joint Unified School District for several years and retired as a teacher with the California Human Development Corporation where she taught English to migrant children.

She held offices in many organizations over the years including Past Matron of Friendship Chapter #48 Order of the Eastern Star, Worthy High Priestess Camelia Shrine-White Shrine of Jerusalem, Guardian Secretary of Bethel #332 International Order of Job's Daughters, she held many offices with the Golden Feather Bowmen Archery Club, Secretary for the Olivehurst-Linda Little League, Secretary and tester for the Yuba-Sutter Amateur Radio Club, the Yuba County Election board as well as the Yuba County Grand Jury.
