Freta D. Van Meter, 91, a loving mother and “Mimi” passed away on October 3, 2016. She was born on January 10, 1925 in Electra, Texas to Grady and Audrey Davis.
She retired from Mobil Oil and was blessed with 30 year career where she made many lifelong friends. Freta had a great love for her family & The Lord, Jesus Christ.
She was preceded in death by her beautiful daughter, Deborah Kay Browning, her two brothers, Carl and Doug Davis, her sisters, Dixie Gryska , Florence Louise Davis, and Mavolene McMahon and one brother-in-law, Thomas Ackerman.
Freta is survived by her only son, Gary Don Van Meter (wife, Philomena); three grandchildren: Erik Van Meter (wife, Melanie), Tara Scarber (husband, James) and Jessica Perkins (husband, David); five great grandchildren: Colleen Allen (husband, Mitchell), Joseph Corbin Scarber, Avery Van Meter, Carly and Olivia Perkins; one great, great grandson Braxtyn Lee Allen; along with one remaining sister, Glenna Ackerman, one brother Mack Davis (wife, Shirley); one sister-in-law Carolyn Davis, in addition to numerous nieces, nephews and countless friends.
Freta will be missed greatly by all, but it is with great comfort that she is rejoicing in heaven with her Heavenly Father.
