Obituary

Harlan Berdett Book, 91, of Fort Wayne, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, September 8, 2016. He was a WW2 Army veteran serving in the Philippines where he received a Bronze Star and Purple Heart. His love for music led him to be a music teacher at The Music Center for many years, and he retired from Lincoln Life Insurance and Fort Wayne Auto Auction.

He will be greatly missed by surviving daughters, Marsha (Gary) Koch, Velda Book; sons Randy Book, all of Fort Wayne, Dan (Vicki) Book of Grabill; grandchildren; Molly (Ryan) Mattax of Greenwood, Nathan Koch, Brandy Book, both of Fort Wayne, Gabrielle (Ryan) Schaadt, Morgan, Madeline, and Audri Book, all of Grabill; great-grandchildren, Isabelle, Yessenia, and Phoenix; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine, of 61 years and his ten siblings.

Service is 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 13, 2016, at Waynedale United Methodist Church, 2501 Church Street, with visitation one hour prior. A visitation will also be 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. Monday, September 12, 2016, at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home, 6424 Winchester Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
