William Harvin (Bill) Covert, Jr., 84, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 3, 2016, at the Care Center in Gulfport. A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 9, 2 p. m., at Magnolia Cemetery in Meridian.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Harvin Covert, Sr. and Hazel Byrne Covert; sisters, Margaret Alice Covert and Kathleen Covert Gavian. Mr. Covert is survived by one niece, Dr. Margaret Gavian of Minneapolis, Minnesota, two great nephews, and a host of cousins.
''Booch,'' as he was affectionately called, was a graduate of Meridian High School and the University of Southern Mississippi. A veteran of the Korean War, he was in the carpet business for over fifty years living most of his adult life on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
