Sierra Nicole Govantes, 17, of Odessa, passed away on Sunday, August 21, 2016 in Odessa.

Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00pm on Friday, August 26, 2016 at Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00pm Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home with Pastor Ivy Shelton of Sherwood Baptist Church, officiating.

Sierra was born in Corsicana, Texas to Michael and Lori Govantes on July 21, 1999. She attended Permian High School. She was a senior taking duel credit courses at Odessa College to become a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN). She was also a member of the National Honor Society. She was involved in Bibles and Barrels. She loved horses and dogs. Along with that, she also enjoyed drag racing with her dad Ron and uncle, Jimmy Wenger.
Sierra is preceded in death by her grandfather, Keith Wood.

Sierra is survived by her parents, Ron and Lori Wenger and Michael and Heather Govantes, one brother, Christopher Govantes, one sister, Lacy Wenger, her grandparents, Connie Wood, Paul and Rosalee Bowers, Steve and Connie Franklin and Pat Wenger.

Memorials may be given to the Odessa College Foundation Office for the Sierra Govantes Scholarship for L.V.N. Dual Credit Students. The office number is (432) 335-6648.
