Lindsey McGee Dies Here On Tuesday; Funeral Dec, 24

Marvin Lindsey McGee of 304 School St., Newton, died early Monday morning, Dec. 22, 1975, at the Newton Hospital, where he had been a patient for only a few days. He was a Newton County native, born March 28, 1906, and his parents were the late Mary Dora Reeves and William Alonzo McGee.

He was affiliated with Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. for 16 years and 10 years with U. S. Rubber Co. He also had owned a tire store and farm implement business in Augusta, Ark., and was a Pure Oil dealer at Kosciusko. The couple resided in Overland Park, Kan., for 15 years, until his retirement in May 1971. They moved to the Liberty Community, where they resided two years, before purchasing the W. M. Moore home and moving to Newton.

Mr. McGee was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church, the Liberty Community Club and the Newton Masonic Lodge.

He leaves his wife, Mrs. Ellen Moore McGee; two brothers, C. Q. McGee of Akron, O., and Melton McGee of Hickory; and several nephews and nieces.

His funeral was conducted by the Rev. J. B. Costilow, his pastor, at Webb Funeral Home chapel at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 24. Interment followed in the family plot of the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, north of Hickory.

Nephews served as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were listed as officers of the Liberty Church and all other friends of the family.
