Dean Leonard Libra, son of Leonard J. and Gertrude O. (Dumas) Libra, was born September 1, 1944 in Jackson, MN. He grew up there. Dean graduated from Jackson High School, where he played football and wrestled. He then earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD, where he also played football.
Dean was united in marriage with Beverly Wieczorek on June 4, 1966 in Sioux Falls, SD. He entered the U.S. Marine Corps on June 5, 1966 in Sioux Falls. Dean served as a helicopter pilot in Vietnam during the war. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Captain on August 1, 1970 at the Marine Corps Air Station in Jacksonville, NC.
Following discharge from the Marines, Dean rejoined Bev in Sioux Falls. Shortly after, the couple moved to a farm near Canton, SD. Dean served as manager of the Canton Airport until his retirement. The couple moved back to Sioux Falls this past fall.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Bev; two sisters, Vera Meyer and her husband, Duane, Mt. Sunapee, NH, Lois Hummel and her husband, Phil, Destin, FL; two brothers-in-law, Wayne Wieczorek and his wife, Dorothy, Sioux Falls, SD, Kenneth Wieczorek and his wife, Evelyn, Sioux Falls, SD; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Gertrude Libra.
