Frank attended Brownwood High School and his sister attended the University of Mary Hardin - Baylor. In 1930, at Christmas-time, on December 21, while the family was home together, a fire started during the night. Frank's sister Pauline was not able to escape, and despite being pulled from the fire by her brother Frank, Pauline did not survive. The family's home was also destroyed. Pauline died in the hospital in Dallas, on Christmas Eve 1930.
Frank attended and graduated from Howard Payne College in Brownwood, Texas. He was a football player, and quite the man-on-campus.
Frank married on 18 March 1933 in Texas to Bonnie Ovella Adams. Bonnie was born in Star, Texas to Lant and Tennie Adams. She was also attending Howard Payne College in Brownwood when the couple met.
Frank and Ovella resided in Texas for all of their married life. In 1939, they lived in Pampa, Texas where they bore their only child, a son named Paul Edward Stubbs. Soon after the birth of their son, they moved to Abilene, Texas where they raised their son, and later adopted a sweet 6 year old girl from foster care out of Odessa, Texas, named Julie. Frank and Ovella lived in Abilene for 25 years before moving to Sweetwater in 1972.
Frank worked for 28 years as a laborer in the oil fields of Texas with Lamar Moore Drilling Company. He later worked as a manager for 15 years for Gibsons Discount Store in Sweetwater, Texas, and was employed with Lawrence IGA until his retirement in 1986. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
Frank Stubbs died on 16 Oct 1989 in Sweetwater, Nolan County, Texas. He is buried at the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sweetwater, Nolan County, Texas. He died at the age of 76 years.
