Television Director. Born Harry George Falk, Jr., into an Irish-Catholic family, his father was a New York City police officer. After his father got a job as a gaffer, his family relocated to California. Falk entered the entertainment industry as a prop master and was elevated to assistant director, as he got his break in television with the series "The Defenders." He moved on to motion pictures as an assistant under Sidney Lumet for the film "Fail Safe" (1964). It would be while working on "The Patty Duke Show" when Falk's life changed in both personal and professional direction. After a brief courtship, he married the show's eighteen year old star Patty Duke in 1965 (their union lasted until 1970) and rose to director, as he helmed several episodes. This led to directing a wide range of popular TV programs during the next three decades which included "Get Smart", "The Flying Nun", "Love, American Style", "Harry O", "The Rockford Files", "Dynasty", "Hotel" and "The Colbys." Falk received an Emmy Award nomination for a 1975 episode of the series "The Streets of San Francisco" titled "The Mask of Death." Additionally, Falk directed numerous TV-Movies and Mini-Series including "Rich Man, Poor Man-Book Two."
