ARLINGTON - Carolyn Milton Allen 82, passed away peacefully in Williamsburg, VA on August 2, 2015.

Carolyn was born in 1932 in Fayetteville, Arkansas to Doris and Otho Milton, the older of two daughters. She graduated high school in Martin, TN. She graduated from Southwestern at Memphis (now, Rhodes College) in 1954, with a bachelor's degree in music, specializing in piano. It was there she met her future husband, Jack Allen, who was on leave from the US Navy.

Following graduation, she taught school for a year. After three years of courtship mostly by letters, they married in 1956 and had three sons, Wes, Paul and Chris.

Carolyn excelled in the duties of an officer's wife and accompanied Jack to Newport, RI, Charleston, SC, Monterey, CA, Long Beach, CA, Washington, DC, and Seattle, WA. She adroitly managed the family while Jack was at sea, including arranging moves and three strong-willed boys.

After Jack's retirement, Carolyn and Jack became inseparable. They moved to Warrenton, VA in 1986 and then in 2007 to Patriots Colony in Williamsburg, VA. She was an active member of PEO in both Warrenton and Williamsburg. She was active in the Presbyterian Church wherever they were stationed. She loved music, to garden, entertain, travel, and be with her family.

She was predeceased by her husband, Jack in May of 2015. She is survived by her sister, Shirley Hunt of Buchanan, TN; her sons Wes (Diana) of Loris, SC; Paul (Kathy) of Clemmons, NC & Chris (Henrietta) of Arlington, VA., and three grandchildren, John, Sarah & Mary -
