Larry Wayne Brown, 67, of Waco, was called home Friday, May 13, 2016 surrounded by his family, following a long and courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at Meadowbrook Baptist Church, 1207 N Old Robinson Rd, Waco, with Dr. Cary Killough officiating. Burial will follow at Rosemound Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Dr.

Larry was born on March 25, 1949 to Thurman and Dollie Brown in Waco, Texas. He loved many things, but on the top of the list were Dr Pepper, work, fishing, and most of all his family. Larry was a hardworking Christian man that showed and taught his work ethic, morals and character with actions instead of just words. Even though he was a man of few words he would always say “make good decisions” right before “I love you” whenever you were leaving the house, and made sure that you knew when he was proud of you.

Larry graduated from University High School in 1967 and attended Baylor University where he earned a Business Degree in 1974. Growing up he was very involved in Third Street Baptist Church leading Sunday School classes and playing on the church softball and volleyball teams. He met the love of his life there, Wendy Inez Williams, and married her in 1983. Together they had two wonderful sons, Joshua and Adam.

Larry was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, and boating, spending many summers doing so with friends and family growing up. He passed on those loves to his two sons spending numerous family vacations on Lake LBJ. Larry was truly the happiest when he was surrounded by family and spending evenings with his wife Wendy going for walks with their dog Annie.

To say that Larry loved work would be an understatement. He truly cared about what he was doing, and the lessons he was leaving those behind him about how important it was to do a good job and provide. He worked for Cen-Tex Roof Systems, and even as his fight with cancer grew more difficult, he always wanted to be able to get back to work. On more than one occasion he would be heard asking the doctor when could he return to work. The love was reciprocated as his job turned into more of an extension of family as they stayed by his side until the day he was called home.

Larry was preceded in death by his grandparents; father, Thurman H. Brown; uncle, Curtis Brown; and cousin, Maurice Brown.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Wendy Inez Brown; sons, Joshua Wayne Brown and wife Larisa, Adam Layne Brown; mother, Dollie Brown; brother, David Brown and wife Sandie; nephew, Shelby Brown and wife Kara and their children Parker, Westin, Trevor and Campbell; nephew, Chad Brown and wife Leann, and their children Lanee and Kyndal; father and mother-in-law, Harlan and JoAnn Williams; and brother-in-law, Terry Williams, as well as many cousins, friends and beloved dog Annie.

Pallbearers will be Joshua Brown, Adam Brown, Shelby Brown, Chad Brown, Terry Williams, and Tony LeNoir. Honorary pallbearers will be David Brown, Ronnie Brown, Ray Smith, and the Cen-Tex Roof Systems staff.

The family would like to send a special thanks to Baylor McClinton Cancer Center and the wonderful staff there for their love and support, especially Dr. Rudranath Talukdar and nurse Miriam who never gave up, and never stopped coming by to visit.
