B. Ruth Boring, 91, a longtime resident of the Forest Grove community, died Friday morning,
April 1, 2016 at the Providence St. Vincent Medical Center in Portland.

B. RUTH BORING was born July 30, 1924 in Portland, Oregon, the daughter of the late James Doleman and Catherine (Kier) Doleman. She was raised and received her education in the Portland community, graduating from Laurelwood Academy, School Class of 1940.
She was united in marriage to Kenneth Howard Boring on March 18, 1945 in the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Cottage Grove, Oregon. Following their marriage they made their home in the Forest Grove community, where she had resided since.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Ken, on September 28, 1999, after celebrating over fifty-four years of marriage together.

She had worked as a legal secretary for the Bump, Young and Walker Law Firm in Forest Grove

Ruth was a lifelong member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Forest Grove; a member of the Pacific Progress Club and a member of the Ladies Group at the Quail Valley Golf Course in Banks.

Among her special interests she enjoyed traveling, especially to Hawaii, gardening, caring for her rose and begonia beds, and playing golf.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, James and Catherine Doleman; her sister, Jean Doleman Baum; her son, Kent Harrison Boring in 2005 and her son-in-law, Lew Schimke in 2008.

Survivors include her two daughters, Susan Colburn, of Portland, Oregon and Jodie Schimke, of Kingston, Washington; her sister and brother-in-law, Kathleen and John Smith, of Spokane, Washington and her brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Adina Doleman, of Cottage Grove, Oregon.

Also surviving are her three grandchildren and their spouses, Anthony and Maureen Colburn and their children, Austin Cory, Olivia and Audrey, of Lake Oswego, Oregon; Christopher and Marla Schimke and their children, Breyton and Bryn, of Redmond, Washington and Jason and Georgina Schimke and their son, Max, of Portland, Oregon; her cousin, Karen Kier, of Portland, Oregon and several nieces and nephews.

The family suggests that remembrances may be contributions to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Portland, 2901 S.E. 122nd Avenue, Portland, Oregon 97236, in memory of her late sister, Jean Doleman Baum or to the B. RUTH BORING MEMORIAL FUND, c/o Providence St. Vincent Medical, 9427 S.W. Barnes Road, Portland, Oregon 97225, attn. Fifth Floor, that provided generous and loving care for her.
