Roscoe, Oct. 13 - Funeral for John Benton Kelley, 57, former Nolan County resident, was to be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Roscoe First Baptist Church. The Rev. Ronnie Skaggs, pastor of the Champion Baptist Church, was to officiate. Burial was to be in Roscoe Cemetery under direction of Wells Funeral Home of Roscoe. The Roscoe Masonic Lodge was to conduct graveside rites.
Mr. Kelley died at 3 a.m. Tuesday in a Lubbock hospital. A grocer, he had lived in Lubbock the past 12 years. He came to Nolan County when a young man and lived in the Champion community south of Roscoe until moving to Sweetwater in 1927. He later moved to Lubbock.
He was married at Roscoe on Dec. 17, 1910, to Miss Dove Boone. He was a member of the Baptist Church and a Mason, affiliated with the Roscoe Masonic Lodge.
Survivors are his wife; two sons, Charlie of Fort Worth and John Bill of Uvalde; and two daughters, Miss Fern Kelley of Midland and Mrs. Faye Wilkison of Lubbock.
