He was the son of the late Berman and Mildred Bell, raised by his uncle and aunt, Russell and Meta Slack. Pooz graduated from high school in Sunbury, Ohio, in 1944 and was a World War II veteran serving in the US Army. He was employed by Kilgore Manufacturing and David Davies and Ed Hardbarger Drywall.
He became an active member of a 12-step program in May 1994 and has been sober for the last 12 years. He had a workshop in his garage and made wood items that have been distributed throughout the United States and the world.
Surviving are his four children: Linda (Donald) Goedke, Russ Bell, Kitty Bell Lyons, John Bell, seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, Brother Bob Bell, many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Ruth (Miesse) on Dec. 6, 1985, parents and brother, Bill on Dec. 14, 1996.
