F. Parker “Tad” Bartlett III

F. Parker “Tad” Bartlett III, 74, of Boothbay Harbor, lost his three-year battle with cancer on Aug. 6. He was born Sept. 23, 1938 in Newton, Mass., to F. Parker Bartlett Jr. and Jane Loomis Bartlett.
Tad grew up in Needham, Mass. and graduated from Wesleyan in the class of 1960. After graduating, he worked as a special agent for the Defense Intelligence Agency. Tad married the love of his life Frances Matko on Aug. 16, 1969.
Tad worked for W.R. Grace and lived in Europe before joining Chemical Bank in New York City. As a vice president he opened the first Chemical Bank branch in Calgary, Alberta, Canada and lived there with his family from 1980 to 1983. While in Calgary, he loved to attend the Calgary Stampede and picked up one of his most prized possessions, a pair of cowboy boots. There, he also mastered the art of the Stampede Pancake.
After Calgary, Tad and his family moved back to Chappaqua, N.Y. In 1986 they moved to Maine, initially to Brunswick, then to Boothbay Harbor. Tad loved Maine and enjoyed many summers at their home on Southport Island. He and Fran moved full time to Boothbay Harbor in 1995 where he is famous (or infamous) for his lobster dinners and blueberry pancakes. In Boothbay, he worked as a Realtor beginning with Ethelyn Giles. Tad was with Pottle Realty Group at the time of his death.
Tad’s passion was music of all kinds, particularly classical and opera. He was very active in Lincoln Arts Festival, where he was a board member for over 15 years and served as president for two terms. He sang in the Lincoln Festival Chorus and Sheepscot Valley Chorus, as well as with the Our Lady Queen of Peace choir and the Methodist Church choir for many years.
He was predeceased by his parents and brother, David Bartlett.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Fran Bartlett of Boothbay Harbor; daughter, Jennifer Valerie Bartlett and partner Tina Burton of Tampa, Fla.; son, Philip Loomis Bartlett and girlfriend Nicole Brallier of Denver, Col.; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Valerie and Paul Wallace of Sleepy Hollow, N.Y. with whom he was very close; niece, Fiona Collins and husband Steve of New York; nephew, Andrew Wallace of New York; and sister-in-law, Susan Bartlett and her family of Texas.
Visiting hours were held Aug. 12 at Simmons, Harrington & Hall Funeral Home, 975 Wiscasset Rd., Boothbay. Please help us celebrate Tad’s life by wearing bright colors at his celebration mass at 11 a.m., Tues., Aug. 13 at Our Lady Queen of Peace, 82 Atlantic Ave., Boothbay Harbor. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Newcastle 11 a.m., Wed., Aug. 14.
