Mills College lost one of its most brilliant students with the death of Miss Lucille Abel in the University of California Infirmary Monday representatives of the college said today. Miss Abel was graduated from Mills in 1923 and finished a post-graduate course in 1924, achieving a scholastic record that has possibly never been excelled in the history of the college, it was said. Her promising career was cut short Monday when she died of pneumonia after an illness of only two days. She had come to Berkeley with her mother, Mrs. Henry Abel, to attend the university summer sessions. Funeral services were held in Williams, Colusa County, where her parents reside."
