EDEN — Abram Alley Millar, 83, of San Angelo, Texas, passed away on Sept. 15, 2006, in Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo because of complications of a stroke. Abe was born in Eden, Texas, to Cora Tisdale Millar and Abraham Millar on Feb. 27, 1923. He went to Live Oak High School in Eden then went to high school in Eldorado and was on the football team (a glorious time for him).
He graduated from North Texas State University with a master's degree in economics. He married Zelma Alicia Jarvis on March 5, 1948, in the little chapel in the woods on the Texas Women's University campus in Denton, Texas.

Zelma graduated from Texas Women's University and was a dietician. Abe worked for 30 years for the federal government and retired from the position of deputy regional commissioner for state programs (GS-15) health education and welfare. He was a decorated veteran of World War II and earned the Purple Heart, Silver Star, American Theater Campaign Medal, EAME Campaign Medal with three Bronze Stars, Air medal with two oak leaf clusters and a Good Conduct Medal. He was in the 8th Air Force 305th Bomb Group.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Zelma Millar and his sister, Mary Ella Millar Cocke.

He is survived by his children, Corinne (Cokey) Millar, Mary A. Millar and Frank J. Millar, Frank's wife, Virginia, and his granddaughter, Amy M. Millar; grandson Abram C. Millar; and nephews Dan and Bill Cocke.

Abe will be buried in the Millar Ranch in Eden in the ranch cemetery. For further information about the memorial service and directions, contact Cokey Millar at (325) 234-5182.
