HILTON TURNER, 65, VANDALIA - Hilton E. Turner, 65, of rural Vandalia died at 9:10 a.m. Saturday, March 11, 1995, at Fayette County Hospital, Vandalia.
Services were held Tuesday morning at Hohlt & File Funeral Home, Vandalia, with the Rev. James Phillips officiating. Burial was in Farmer Cemetery, rural Shobonier. Memorials: Hilton Turner family.
Mr. Turner was born June 7, 1929, in Waddell, MO., son of William T. and Nellie Lee Summers Turner. He was a retired guard at Joliet Correctional Center in Joliet. a U.S. Army Korean Conflict veteran and a member of Crown Point Church, Vandalia. He married Mabel G. Willis on March 31, 1962, in Vandalia.
Surviving are his wife; sons, Billy Turner of Linn, MO., and Robbie Turner and Ricky Turner, both of Vandalia; daughters, Rhonda and her husband Michael Mize of Buna, Texas, Robin and her husband Jesse Jackson of Brownstown and Sheila and her husband Scott Coleman of St. Louis, MO.; brother, Lawrence Turner of Clarkton, MO.; sisters, Sarah Watson of Granite City and Carrie Berry of Gidion, MO.; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two daughters, three brothers and three sisters.
