Burnett was born August 3, 1933, in Mishawaka, Indiana, the son of Chester and Pearl (Weikel) LaVine. Burnett was a master cabinet maker, working many years in the mobile home manufacturing industry in Elkhart, Indiana. He enjoyed collecting things.
On January 30, 1953, Burnett married the love of his life, the former Dorothy Oakley, who survives. Also surviving are their children: Kim (Suzann) LaVine, Beverly (Gary) Robison, and Julee (Patrick) Lo; brothers: Alfred (Thelma) LaVine and Lyle (Josephine) LaVine; a sister: Treva Bope; eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Burnett was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Morris and Richard; and a sister: Edna.
A private service will take place at a later date with burial in Bremen, Indiana.
