Kenneth Hasten, 71, of Mertens, passed away January 19, 2016 in Hillsboro. He was born March 28, 1944 in Waxahachie to Leonard and Nelta Thomas Hasten.
He grew up in Mertens and graduated from Italy High School. In June of 1967 he received a B.S. degree in mechanical engineering from University of Texas in Austin.
He worked around the country on various engineering projects in the nuclear power plant field. Kenneth worked as a consultant for NASA while he farmed from 1996 until his retirement in 2015. He owned and operated a century farm that he was proud of putting back together after several years.
Survivors include his wife, Freda Hasten; children, Kyle Hasten and Michelle Klumb and his grand children.
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 22, 2016 at the Chapel in Hillsboro. Burial will follow at Richland Cemetery in Mertens.
