SERVICES HELD FRIDAY FOR FRED WASSER -- Fred L. Wasser, 73, of Vandalia died at 7:15 a.m. Wednesday, January 28, in the Fayette County Hospital, Vandalia.
He was born December 22, 1896 at Brownstown, the son of Conrad and Lavina Steinhauer Wasser. He was married to Mable Ritter who died in September, 1947. His second marriage was to Corlena Josephine (Beck)Lofland on September 21, 1958.
Survivors are his wife, Corlena; sons, Donald of Salem; Virgil of Waukegan, and Fred of Chicago; stepdaughters, Mrs. Lucille Sidwell of Brownstown; Mrs. Ruby Goodin of Hillsboro; stepson, James Lofland of Vandalia; brother, Charles, of Brownstown; sister, Mrs Anna Reeter of Vandalia and Mrs. Maggie Mills of Effingham; five grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Miller Funeral Home in Vandalia, the Rev. A.L. Matejka officiating. Burial was in Ritter Cemetery near Vandalia.
