William Denman "Denny" Dukes, Jr., 74, of Abilene, passed away Monday, December 14, 2015, at the Merkel Nursing Center in Merkel, Texas.

Denny was born August 2, 1941, in Levelland, Texas, to W.D. and Mary Ulala Wood Dukes.
He grew up in Eastland County and graduated from Eastland High School in 1959, where he was a member of the Maverick football team. Denny went on to work for Borden, Foremost, and Midwest Farms dairy companies during his extensive career as a milkman. He spent many years operating home delivery routes in Texas and Louisiana, and later delivered retail products until his retirement.

Preceding him in death were his parents and one daughter, Camille Dukes.

Survivors include his son, Ray Dukes and wife, Jan, of Abilene; five daughters, Tanya Gannaway of Abilene, Sherri Ball and husband, Hank, of Cottonwood, Tina Wyatt and husband, Curtis, of Cross Plains, Dana Miller and husband, Ron, of Abilene, and Lisa London and husband, Cornell of Plano; two brothers, Jerry Dukes and wife, Rita, of Evergreen, CO., Steve Dukes of Houston; one sister, Susan Dukes of Canyon Lake; twelve grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons, Jordan Gannaway, Andrew Wheeler, Brett Wheeler, Christopher Wheeler, Hayden Wyatt, Britton Dukes, Brock Thetford and Cody Slatton.
