US Congressman. In 1889, he immigrated to the United States with his parents and was naturalized as a citizen in 1901. He graduated from Detroit College of Medicine in 1904, moved to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho in 1905, and practiced medicine. He was a surgeon for Chicago, Milwaukee & St. Paul Railroad, 1910 to 1950, mayor of Coeur d'Alene in 1911 to 1912 and founder and first president of Coeur d'Alene Hospital. During World War I he served as a Lieutenant in the US Army Medical Corps. He was elected as a Republican to the Eighty-second Congress, serving from 1951 to 1953. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he resumed the practice of medicine until his death.
