Graveside services for Fred McDaniel, age 96, of Downsville will be 2:00 PM May 22, 2003 with Rev. David Martin officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Nebo Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Farmerville.

Mr. McDaniel died Tuesday, May 20, 2003 in Farmerville.

The youngest child of 12 of Daniel P McDaniel and his wife, Saffronie Elizabeth Maxey, Fred was a lifelong resident of Downsville, Louisiana. A Baptist by faith, he was a farmer and a machinist by trade. He lived on the farm his father homesteaded in the 1890s.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Oma Katherine (Richardson) McDaniel and 10 of his 11 siblings.

Survivors include son and daughter-in-law: Ernest Layton and Billie McDaniel of Downsville, LA; sister: Eula Simpson of Bossier City, LA; grandchildren: Dr. Robert and Kimberly McDaniel of Hendersonville, TN, Diane McDaniel of Downsville, LA, Joye and Donnie Young of Downsville, LA; five great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
