Word of the death on 2 April of 1st Lt. Eldon Auline Plumlee was killed in North Africa where he was a squadron commander and a bomber pilot in the US Army Air Forces. He had won two citations for bravery during his 16 months of active service. Lt. Plumlee graduated from Cross Plains HIgh School and attended John Tarleton College. His parents lived at Pioneer. His wife lived at McCamey with her parents. Survivors are his wife; his parents; his grandparents; one sister; one brother.

According to Abilene Municipal Cemetery records, Eldon Plumlee was disinterred 9/10/1999 and reinterred at Pioneer Cemetery, Eastland TX. He was buried initially (1948) in Cedar Hill section, Block 114, lot 10.
