Mr. Abell died at 7:28 p.m. Thursday at his home.
He owned Abell Insurance and Real Estate in La Center for 30 years and was affiliated with Kevil Grain Co. for 15 years. He was a member of Bandana Baptist Church and North Ballard Masonic Lodge No. 537.
Surviving are his wife, Nan Stevens Abell; three sons, Steven M. Abell of Bandana, Michael C. Abell and Phillip E. Abell, both of Kevil; two daughters, Pamela A. Jett of Jensen Beach, Fla., and Candace R. Bean of Palm City, Fla.; one brother, James S. Abell of Folsom, La.; one sister, Marjorie Abell Ellison of Clearwater Beach, Fla.; nine grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one stepgreat-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by one sister and one grandchild. His parents were Pauline Hampton Abell and Selden Earl Abell.
