The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Fair Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Ridgeview Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Bailey was born in Rockingham County to the late Jack and Laura Joyce Bailey. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was retired from Gibbs Machine Company.
Surviving are wife Betty Matthews Bailey of Eden; sons, David Bailey of Reidsville and Joe Bailey Jr., and wife Sarah of Mayodan; daughters, Cynthia Compton and husband Teddy of Stoneville and Cathy Vipperman and husband Ronnie of Stoneville; brother Jerry Bailey of Eden; sisters, Maxine Paschall of Eden, Edith Hall of Eden, Marie Howell of Reidsville and Brenda Harden of Eden; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; beloved pet, Suzie.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Connie Bailey and brother Otis Bailey.
