CHAS. WEAVER DIED AT HOME HERE FRIDAY
Charles Edward Weaver, 78, died at his home on South Elm street, at 3:30 p.m. Friday, March 30th, after a lingering illness.
Son of George and Mary Ellen Weaver, he was born April 7, 1867 in Montgomery county. He had lived in or near Vandalia the last 33 years.
He and Mary Jane Kean were married Oct. 11, 1893, at Litchfield. They were the parents of 13 children, one of whom preceded the father in death. Surviving, in addition to the widow, are six sons, Walter, George, Clarence, Willie, and Wilber, all of Vandalia; and Jess, of El Cerato, Cal.; six daughters, Mrs. Rose Thompson, Mrs. Stella Thompson and Mrs. Cora Cahoon, all of this city; Mrs. Pansy Huels, of St. Louis; Mrs. Grace Moreland, St. James, MO., and Mrs. Eva Helm, of Inyokern, Calf. There are 33 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
In addition to the above named, he leaves a sister, Mrs. Nannis Boone, of Donnellson; three half-brothers, John A. Weaver, of Hillsboro, Edward Weaver, of Sorento, and Esley Weaver of Reno. A half-sister, Mrs. Francis Funk, and a step sister, Mrs. Anna Edwards, are deceased.
Services were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, April 2 in the First Baptist church of Vandalia, by the pastor, The Rev. J. Paul Carleton. Burial was made in Fairlawn cemetery. Hunter funeral services in charge. ~
