Pastor of St. Athanasius Catholic Church in Long Beach, California, for 34 years, from 1943 to 1977, after which he continued to serve there as pastor emeritus. The son of Joseph and Catherine (Sinnott) Feehan of Illinois, Rev. Monsignor Joseph Feehan came with his family to Los Angeles around 1915. He attended Loyola University and the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. On May 25, 1927, he was ordained to the priesthood by Archbishop John J. Cantwell at St. Vibiana's Cathedral for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. He served as the pastor of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Fillmore and Our Lady of the Rosary parish in Paramount. He was also the pastor of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Laguna Beach before taking over at St. Athanasius parish, where he oversaw construction of the grade school and convent in 1948 and the present church in 1950. He was honored as a Monsignor in 1974 by Pope Paul VI. A priest for 63 years, Msgr. Feehan died at age 87.
