Mamie was born to Fred W. and Maud Elizabeth (McMaster)Allen. She graduated from high school in 1917 and worked as a teacher. She married Paul Andrew Trent after he returned from France after WWI. They had one son Robert C. Trent in 1920. They moved from Alexandria, South Dakota to Tacoma WA in the mid 1920s.They also raised Paul's half sister Dorothy after the death of Paul and Dorothy's father Charles A. Trent in 1925. They divorced in 1934.
