He was born March 13, 1927, in Lubec, to the late Raymond and Evelyn (Davis) Calkins.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1945-1947. He returned to Lubec and was employed at Somers Hardware store for ten years. He moved to Connecticut where he was employed by Pratt and Whitney Aircraft for 33 years before his retirement to Ocala, Fla. Phillip was a member of Congregational Christian Church of Ocala. He was also a lifelong member of American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Jay Calkins.
