Catherine (Cathy) Anne Dubuisson, 68, passed away on the morning of September 8, 2015.
Cathy was born in Kankakee, Illinois on September 9, 1946 to Russel and Annetta (Hustedt) McKean. She obtained a bachelor's degree in English from Illinois State University, where she met her husband Michael. After graduating, she taught English at various high schools in Illinois for several years until she left teaching to raise her three daughters. After her daughters were grown, Cathy started working for the West Des Moines School District doing foodservice as well as child care for the Kids West program.
Mike and Cathy lived in Clive, Iowa with their cat, Simba, where they have resided since 1980 and raised their three daughters, Dena Stokes of Des Moines, Iowa, Diana Dubuisson of Kansas City, Missouri, and Donna (Matt) Dzievit of Ames, Iowa.
Cathy enjoyed spending time with her family, playing card games, reading, attending and volunteering at church, watching sports, learning to play the organ, attending water fitness classes at Mercy, and beating Mike at miniature golf. For over 16 years, she volunteered as a Girl Scout leader at Clive Elementary. She enjoyed traveling with Mike, something they were doing often in their retirement. They returned last week from an extended trip to the Western U.S. and were looking forward to their next trip to New Hampshire and Maine.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace United Methodist Church.
Cathy was loved by all who knew her, and will be greatly missed.
Memorial services will be held at Grace United Methodist Church, 3700 Cottage Grove Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa, 50311 on Monday, September 14, 2015.
