She was a native of Alamo, Texas, grew up in the Rio Grande Valley, and graduated from Pharr-San Juan-Alamo High School in 1956. She lived in Louisiana most of her adult life with twenty eight years being spent in New Orleans, Louisiana before moving to San Antonio, Texas in September 2000.
While in New Orleans, she was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church and a member of the Welcome Neighbor's Club, Algiers Branch. She was also a volunteer at Jo Ellen Smith Hospital and the Mary Joseph Nursing Home for several years.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Ballard and Roberta Freasier. June is survived by her husband of 44 years, Robert D. Schafroth, one son, Robert James Schafroth of Richmond, VA; three daughters, Katrina Gilbert (Larry) of Auburn, Maine; Kimberly Fritz (John) of San Antonio, TX; Kayne Haley (Randy) of Clear Lake, TX; two brothers, Bishop Michael Pfeifer, OMI; Father Francis Pfeifer, OMI and four sisters, Colleen Lind, Angela Kapeller, Jane Ellen Hilz and Judith Pfeifer and five grandchildren, Joseph, Joshua, Ainsley, Layne and Jaymeson.

As June will be cremated, internment will take place at a later date and will be private.
