John P. Regan, age 72, passed away suddenly and has finally joined his beloved son, Scott in heaven.

John grew up on the North Side and was a devoted Catholic and his faith and family carried him through the challenges that life offered. John coached CYO basketball for many years and was an ardent sideline coach for the sporting endeavors of his children and grandchildren. John adored his grandchildren and had the opportunity to spend a great deal of quality time with them in his retirement which brought him great joy.

John was a great storyteller and he captivated a room with his great laugh, animation and genuine love of connecting with those he loved.

John was survived by his loving children, Carolyn, Laureen (Paul Rettinger), Diana, Brian (Darlene Ausman), Mary Budd (Barry), Jennifer (Bud Bunecicky), his grandchildren, Brian, Nicholas and Kali Bunecicky; Madison, Connor, and Jack Budd; Rowan Rettinger; Allie and Logan Ausman and his former wife, JoAnne Regan.

John was preceded in death by his mother, Mary (Duffy) Regan, father Martin J. Regan, and his sister, Mary C. Regan. He was very close to his siblings, Martin, Patricia Rooney (Dan); Evelyn O'Brien; Thomas (Lohna) Geraldine Glenn; Joan; Rita Heberle (Don) and Irene Hill (Jay) and will be missed by his many nieces, nephews and friends.
