William R. Owen was the son of Benjamin Owen and Ruth Riley,(have not located Benjamin and Ruth's graves). He was the grandson of Uriah Owen, Rev. War Patriot VA. He married Eliza Ann Knight in Pike County, GA 17 Dec 1840, recorded GA Marriage Records 1822-1872 pg 14.

Their children were: Lucy E.(Female child 8 yrs old of W.R. and E.A. Owen on the 1850 Henry Co, GA is believed to be Lucy E. who married George R. Thompson 18 Dec. 1859 in Henry Co, GA and he died 1 Apr 1863 prob. Civil War); Columbus Cicero; M.J.(5 year old female child of W.R. and E.A. Owen listed 1850 Henry Co, GA census); Minerva Caroline; W.T.(Male child 5 mos old listed on 1850 Henry Co, GA census with W.R. and E.A. Owen, date of census is Oct 1850); Mary F.; Thomas J.; Millard F.(M.F. Owen death 10 Apr 1925, Boaz, Marshall, AL age 68y 6m, spouse, Mrs. M.F. William R. Owen, known as Billie was a school master and also one of the first Post Masters in Paulding County in 1877-1886. Recorded Postmaster Appointments Georgia, National Archives File M841 Microfilm Roll 24 - Paulding, page 639 Paulding County, GA shows Nebo Post Office - William R. Owen, Postmaster, 12 Dec 1877 - 22 May 1886.
