He was surrounded by his beloved wife of almost 65 years, Martha B. Alley, and family.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 25, 2015 at 1:30pm in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Greenbrier with Brother John Briggs officiating.
Burial will follow in the Forest Lawn Cemetery with Colt Alley, David Brehm, Kenny McDonald, Stephen Williams and Cade McDonald, Keeton Bunn, James T. Marshall and Zack Patterson serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 from 2-8pm and again on Thursday from 10am until the hour of service.
A son to the late Elgia Harris Alley, Sr. and Jessie Lee Benton Alley, he was born in Springfield, TN on October 29, 1929.
He was a Korean War Veteran who served two and a half years in the United States Air Force and did one tour in Korea. He retired after 30 years and six months from the Ford Glass Plant in Nashville and was instrumental as a commissioner serving 26 years with the Robertson County Court. He spent most of his retirement refinishing antiques at his family owned business, Alley's Antiques. He was best known by many as the "Cotton Candy Man".
In addition to his parents Mr. Alley is preceded in death by his infant daughter, Carol Ann Alley.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his daughter, Doris (David) Brehm of Cross Plains; son, Edward Harris Alley of Greenbrier; grandchildren, Cari (Kenny) McDonald, Kimi Bunn, Cacy (Stephen) Williams and Colt Alley; great-grandchildren, Destiny Sircy, Alley McDonald, Cheznie Brehm, Keeton Bunn, Cade McDonald, Wyatt Williams, Bryson Alley and Wrex Williams; siblings, Patsy Long, Robert (Betty) Alley, Leslie (Peggy) Alley and Janice (Bobby) Agee.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association.
