David and Sallie moved and settled in first Elbert County, Georgia along what is part of the Broad River. Some of this area later became part of Oglethorpe County. David and Sallie are both buried in a small Mattox Family cemetery located in Oglethorpe County close to the Madison County line along with several of Richard V Gaulding and Mary Virginia Mattox Gaulding's (one if their daughter's) small infant children.
