Cecil Collins, 85, of 911 W Nevada Street, Marshalltown, died at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines.

He was born on February 4, 1910, at Mormon Ridge, Marshall County, Iowa, the son of John L. and Claudia Graves Collins. He graduated from Albion High School in 1927 and Central Iowa Business College in 1929.

He married Marcene Overturf on November 10, 1934, in Cedar Rapids. He was parts manager for all Ford dealers from Rude Auto Company through Jensen Ford. He retired December 31, 1979.

He was a member of the City Council from 1951 to 1955; Civil Service Commission from 1956, serving as chairman until 1994; chairman of the General Government Committee; Eighth ward Republican Committeeman for about eight years; charter member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce, serving as president in 1945; past president and lifetime member of Iowa Ford Parts and Service Managers Club; member of the Ford Parts Manager National Advisory Board; member of the National Rifle Club; and life member of B.P.O.E. Elks #312 and Izaak Walton.

Survivors include his wife Marcene of Marshalltown; daughters Maris (Murray) Schad of North Platte Nebraska and Jan Elledge of Ellsworth; a son Robert of Ankeny; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, and a sister.
