Sarah Ann Wapner

Sarah Wapner passed away in her home in Santa Monica at the age of 56. She suffered from heart disease from her earliest years and had a heart transplant on November 9, 2014. Sarah was born in Los Angeles at Cedars of Lebanon Hospital, and was a lifelong resident of Southern California. She attended the original Frostig School and Pacific Hills School, and graduated from the Rexford School. Sarah received her certificate in Early Childhood Development from Santa Monica College. She worked as an assistant teacher at Valley Beth Shalom Preschool in Encino for fifteen years. Sarah was considered the family historian, possessing an encyclopedic knowledge of the Nebenzahl-Wapner family tree. She was an ardent lover of cats. Sarah was a loving daughter, sister, and aunt. She is survived by her parents, Judge Joseph A. and Mickey Wapner, and brothers, Judge Fred Wapner (Audrey Schlesinger), and David Miron-Wapner (Edna). Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, June 3rd at 2 pm at Mount Sinai Memorial Park in Hollywood Hills. Donations in Sarah’s memory can be made to the preschool at Valley Beth Shalom Synagogue.
