Ethel M. Ansley, 91, of Hooker died Friday, Sept. 17, 1999 at Dunaway Manor in Guymon.

Born Sept. 27, 1907 in Granada, CO to John and Ida Johnson Serfoss, she attended a little country school called Ridge View where eight grades were taught.

The family moved into Granada where she attended two years of high school and in 1926 the family moved to Hooker where she finished her schooling.

Aug. 31, 1927 she married William Doris Ansley in Hooker and the couple made their first home in Mt. Dora, NM.

Their first child, William Roy, was born in Mt. Dora before the family moved to Adams in 1929. Three more sons were born to the couple, James Wilbur "Pete", Lemuel Charles "Duke" and Elmer A..

The couple moved to Hooker in 1964. Her husband preceded her in death June 7, 1997.

She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Hooker and enjoyed knitting and bead work.

Others preceding her in death are her parents; husband; son, Roy; three brothers, Wilbur, Charles and Bill Serfoss; her twin sister, Effie Nagel; and a great grandson, Nathan Cooper.


Survivors include three sons, Pete and Beverly Ansley of Adams, Duke and Darlene of Three Forks, Mont. and Elmer and Karen of Woodward; 14 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and a niece, Irene Brown.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 21 at the First Baptist Church in Hooker with the Rev. John Goss Jr. and Eddy Scoggins officiating.
