Tuesday, June 21, 2005 - Claudia Mary Jay, 76, of Gorman, died Saturday, June 18, 2005. Services were held Monday, June 20, at the Higginbotham Funeral Home Chapel in Gorman with Ken Wilson and Jackie Auvenshine officiating. Burial followed at Oaklawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Jay was born Oct. 25, 1928, in Oregon to A.F. Lennington and Mary Francis (McClellan) Lennington. She married Thurman Jay on Aug. 11, 1945, in Eastland. Thurman and Claudia Jay owned and operated Jay's Grocery in Gorman for many years. She was a 50-year member of the Eastern Star and a Baptist.
She is survived by her husband, Thurman Jay of Gorman; three sons, William Jay of Strawn, James Jay of Gorman and Bobby Jay of Gorman; a daughter, Mary McCormick of Euless; two sisters, Delores Cox of Tyler and Nettie Jo Nichols of Iowa Park; five grandsons and two great-grandchildren.
