SUDDEN DEATH OF MR. D. DELANEY
Mr. Denis Delaney, who for a number of years has acted as overseer of Gumly for Mr. F. W. Donnelly, died very suddenly at his residence shortly before midnight on Friday. An inquest into the death was held before the District Coroner, Mr. L. A. Fosbery, mid a jury of seven, at the residence of deceased at noon on Saturday. Mr. J. B. Edney was chosen as Forman of the jury. Sophia Delaney, wife of deceased, deposed that her husband had been in Wagga on Thursday, and returned home about sundown. He appeared to be in his usual state of health, which, as far as she knew, was always good. They had been married eight years. During that period her husband had never complained of illness of any description, or shortness of breath. He was laid up for a short time about six years ago through having strained himself whilst lifting a log. Deceased had tea as usual on Friday evening, and retired to bed at nine o'clock. She remained up doing cooking and other work. At about half-past eleven she heard deceased turn in his bed and clear his throat. Shortly afterwards she heard him gasp. She ran to his bedroom, and found him lying upon his back and he was black in the face. His eyes were open. She raised his head and spoke to him, but he did not reply. She got some water and moistened his mouth and forehead. He gasped once or twice and groaned, and seemed to expire. She immediately ran to a neighbor, Mr. Baker, and asked him to go for a doctor. Mr. Baker went into Wagga for a medical man, and Dr. Morgan arrived about an hour afterwards. Her husband had died before the doctor came. Deceased had a remarkably good temper, was very temperate, and did not drink spirits of any sort. A short time ago he insured his life for £150, she believed, in the Widows' Fund. They had four children alive. Dr. Morgan stated that he was asked to attend deceased on Friday night. He arrived at Delaney's house at about half-past twelve. He found deceased had been dead about an hour. He made a post mortem on the body. It showed that all the organs except the heart were in a healthy condition. He noticed fatty degeneration of the heart. The walls and ventricles of the heart were thin and the valves defective. Death had evidently resulted from congestion and paralysis of the heart caused through the cessation of the heart's action. A verdict in accordance with the medical evidence was returned. The funeral of deceased took place on Sunday and was numerously attended.

DEATH OF MR. DENIS DELANEY
Of the late Mr. Denis Delaney of Gumley, the Wagga Wagga ADVERTISER has the following:-
Deceased who was only 44 years of age, was a long resident in the Wagga district, having been in the employ of Mrssrs. Donnelly and Co. for over 30 years. He was for many years employed on the Borambola station and latterly as overseer on the Gumly Gumly run. He was always looked upon as a sober steady man, and had made a large number of friends in every direction. In his younger years he was a well known athlete, and held at one time a record for the district as a high jumper. Only a few days before his death he received a policy from the Widows Fund Live assurance Society for £150. He leaves a widow and four young children, for whom much regret is felt by their large circle of friends. The funeral took place on Sunday, and was one of the longest seen in that part of the district for many years. Following the hearse and mourning coach was a procession of 47 vehicles and 80 horsemen. The cortege was a most representative one, and included friends from every direction. The remains were buried in the Catholic portion of the Wagga Cemetery, The service at the grave being conducted by the Rev. Father M'Elroy.
