"Tenison, James Charles "J.C." - Tenison, Jr., passed away on August 5, 2010 at the age of 86. He was born in Dallas, Texas on July 8, 1924. His parents, J.C. and Jonnie Tenison; his brother, Robert "Bobby" Tenison; and his first wife, Jane Garrard Tenison, preceded Mr. Tenison in death. Mr. Tenison's grandfather, E. O. Tenison, donated land to the city of Dallas in honor of his nephew, and that land became known Tenison Park in East Dallas. Mr. Tenison is survived by his wife, Hilde Mills Tenison; son James Charles Tenison, III; daughter and son-in-law Jean and William F. McEvoy; brother John Tenison; grandchildren Jordan Tenison, Jennifer McEvoy, and Matthew McEvoy. Mr. Tenison is also survived by four stepchildren, twelve grandchildren, four great-grand-children, many other nieces, nephews, and extended family. J.C. played grew up in the Park Cities and attended Highland Park High School. He played football and was a member of the R.O.T.C, and his swim team won the State Championship in 1942. J.C. graduated from Highland Park in 1944 and enlisted in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was stationed in Germany and transported munitions to those on the front lines. He was also active in radio communications. J.C. loved gardening and was a long-time member of the First Men's Garden Club of Dallas and also served as president of the club. He loved photographing his beautiful prize flowers. After entering his slides in the National Slide Competition of the Men's Garden Clubs of America, he won an Outstanding Exhibit Award in 1995 with three First Place, four Second Place, and two Third Place awards. A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 9, 2010 at Spark-man/Hillcrest Northwest Hwy. Chapel."
