1923 - 2015
Noland Keith Alexander, 91, passed away January 31, 2015 in Mancos, Colorado. He was born on December 2, 1923 in Mancos, Colorado, to James S. "Boe" and Caroline "Callie" (Noland) Alexander.
Noland grew up in Mancos, Colorado, where he graduated from Mancos High School in 1942. After high school he attended Fort Lewis College in Hesperus, Colorado. During World War II, Noland joined the United States Navy and served with the Pacific fleet until his honorable discharge in 1946.
Noland married Betty Beers on June 8, 1946 in Greeley, Colorado. From this union came four children. The majority of his life he owned and operated the Cedar Lane Ranch in the Mancos Valley.
Community minded, he served on the boards of the Mancos School District, Mancos Water Conservancy, Empire Electric Association, Mancos Valley Bank, San Juan Basin Vocational School, and the Mancos Rural Water Company. Noland was a member of the Cattlemen's Association (where he was Cattlemen of the Year), Masonic Lodge, Shriners, VFW, and the Mancos United Methodist Church.
Surviving Noland are his sister, Nancy; his children, 2 daughters and one son; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Noland was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty; a child, Kent Alexander; siblings Genevieve McGregor, Eloise Ferree, Kathleen Newsome, and Tommy Lou Brown: and great-grandchildren, Chance Hawkins and Jace Alexander.
